SURIAD participated in the Joint Economic Cooperation Summit between Syria and Türkiye, which was held in the province of Gaziantep, organized by the International Business Forum (IBF). The summit brought together an elite group of business leaders and investors from both the Syrian and Turkish sides, with the aim of strengthening economic cooperation and opening new horizons for joint investment.
Active Participation of SURIAD in Enhancing Economic Cooperation
A high-level delegation from the Syrian Businessmen Association (SURIAD), led by Vice Chairman Eng. Halit SAVAFOĞLU and a group of prominent Syrian business leaders, attended the summit.
SURIAD played an active role in discussing pressing economic issues and presenting a clear vision for strengthening economic partnership between Syria and Türkiye.
Significance and Objectives of the Summit
The summit was attended by prominent official and economic figures, including Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat, the Governor of Gaziantep, Mr. Kemal Çeber, and the President of the International Business Forum (IBF), Mr. Erol Yarar, along with a large number of Turkish and Syrian business leaders.
During the summit the Turkish Minister of Trade announced customs reductions of up to 70% on 269 products, in addition to the launch of negotiations to reactivate the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between the two countries, which is a step that would facilitate the flow of Syrian products into Turkish and global markets.
The summit also included B2B (business-to-business) meetings between Turkish and Syrian business owners, which contributed to concluding several commercial agreements and establishing new partnerships between Syrian and Turkish companies.
