
Within the framework of their engagement with the Turkish business environment, members of SURIAD, in coordination and cooperation with Turkish independent business organizations, contributed to the local Chambers of Commerce elections in a number of Turkish provinces.
It is well known that the number of licensed Syrian companies in Türkiye exceeded fifteen thousand as of February 2019, according to the latest official statistics from the Turkish Ministry of Trade, which showed that the number of companies had reached 15,159 by that date.
Yeni Şafak newspaper had also reported, citing the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, that Syrian companies in Istanbul alone had officially injected a total of two billion Turkish lira into their businesses, with 9,131 joint-capital companies operating in the city as of April 2021 — highlighting the importance of this sector within the Turkish economy.
